In his new book, expected next fall, Lindsay Fischer provides helpful comment on Rob Binet's ballet, Dreamers Ever Leave You, to be produced by the National Ballet of Canada in Toronto February 28th to March 4th. Lindsay says:
"The striking thing about Dreamers is that it speaks directly to the awareness of being alive, without recourse to plot or character, or the established conventions of theatrical communication. The ballet ... depends on the concept that art’s secret lies it its ability to circumvent the filters of the viewer. The individual [must make] the active choice to accept the artist’s choice of symbols as a personal translation of his inner vision, trusting that what both artist and observer have in common as members of the same species, rather than the same tribe, is enough to support a common meaning."
